You Think Too Much

I just returned from a 2-week trip to Australia. My very first stop was the iconic Sydney Opera House. What stays with me, besides the beauty, was the human drama that occurred over the fourteen years of its construction. It’s described in the Official Souvenir Guide as “a conflict of architect versus engineer”–creative vs. technical, concept versus execution.
Which of those characteristics do you vibe with? To fulfill our potential, I believe we need to know ourselves and our skills. What do we want to do versus what are we good at?
Since I was three years old, I wanted to be an actress. In college, I majored in Speech and Dramatic Art. When I was graded a B in Acting, and an A in Directing, I was devastated. “Why?” I whined to the teacher, my eyes filled with tears. “You think too much,” he replied. My tears stopped. “But I like thinking,” I thought.
Fast forward: I’ve been an entrepreneur–a director who thinks a lot for 40 years this August.
What are you good at? The lucky ones among us get to do that all day long. I’m one of the lucky ones. Thirty years speaking onstage (being me and thinking just the right amount). The past ten years and counting, I’m coaching speakers and TED Talkers. And thinking quite a bit. . .
Let’s talk about your speaking needs. Please schedule a 30-minute complimentary clarity call with me. You get value and we discover if we are a match to work together.
